The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will experience a milestone this weekend at Sonoma Raceway when Alon Day, a 25 year-old native of Tel Aviv, will become the first driver from Israel to ever compete in NASCAR’s top series. Denny Hamlin Happy with Fourth-Place Run

Denny Hamlin feels his fortunes are on an upswing, and he had reason for optimism even before he took the green flag in Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

On Saturday afternoon, Hamlin outduel William Byron in a side-by-side race to the finish line to take home the trophy from the Irish Hills 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race. Side-drafting off the final corner, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series star Denny Hamlin pulled ahead of Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender William Byron and won a drag race to the finish line to win his first NASCAR XFINITY Series race of the season in the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.
