William Byron Holds Off the NASCAR Cup Series Field in Dramatic Atlanta Victory

William Byron holds off the NASCAR Cup Series Field in dramatic Atlanta victory in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 on Sunday afternoon.

After a repave and reconfiguration of Atlanta Motor Speedway, the NASCAR Cup Series returned for their first crack at this new track. Not only did the speedway repave its surface, but it also increased its banking in the corners from 24 degrees to 28 degrees. Atlanta officials were going for more of a superspeedway feel, and they hit it right on the button.

William Byron wins a wild NASCAR Cup Series Race at transformed Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 on Sunday.

HAMPTON, Ga. – It was superspeedway racing with all the trimmings.

‘New’ Atlanta Motor Speedway produced a fifth different 2022 winner—William Byron, who managed to keep an angry pack of drafting cars behind him for the final ten laps of Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.

Ty Gibbs Snags Second NASCAR Xfinity Series Win of 2022 at Atlanta

Ty Gibbs snags second NASCAR Xfinity Series Win of 2022 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Nalley Cars 250 on Saturday afternoon.

HAMPTON, Ga. – With a brilliant move to the inside of leader Ryan Sieg on the final lap of the second overtime, Ty Gibbs seized control of Saturday’s Nalley Cars 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and won by 0.178 seconds over runner-up Austin Hill.
