Elliott, Lorenzen, Scott, Weatherly, White Officially Enshrined

Five legendary drivers with distinct styles and contributions to NASCAR were enshrined into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, North Carolina tonight during the Induction Ceremony held in the Crown Ball Room at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Those who added their names to the list of now 30 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductees, included: Bill Elliott, Fred Lorenzen, Wendell Scott, Joe Weatherly and Rex White.

The group makes up the Hall’s sixth class in its history.  Continue reading

15 Different Winners And Counting; Record Is 18   

The NASCAR Nationwide Series has reached its highest level of competitive balance in more than a decade. Ryan Blaney, 20, became the 15th different series winner this past weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, the most through 23 races since 2001. The overall series record for most different winners in a full season is 18, set in 1988.

This season has ten races remaining on the series schedule and the record of 18 could very well be matched. Already, this season has seen five first-timers  with Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Brendan Gaughan, Ty Dillon and Chris Buescher. Other than the inaugural Nationwide Series season the record for first-time winners is six.

NASCAR announced Wednesday the inductees who are the 2015 class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The five-person group – the sixth in NASCAR Hall of Fame history – consists of Bill Elliott, Fred Lorenzen, Wendell Scott, Joe Weatherly and Rex White. In addition, NASCAR announced that Anne B. France won the inaugural Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR. Next year’s Induction Day is Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, broadcast on NBC Sports Network from Charlotte, N.C.  Continue reading

NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver Elliott Sadler celebrates his win in the Samsung /RadioShack 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Elliott Sadler was looking to visit victory lane again in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. 2004 was his second year working with his No. 38 Robert Yates Racing team.

Sadler grabbed his lone Cup victory with the Wood Brothers at Bristol Motor Speedway in March 2001.

He and the No. 38 team were looking for more in 2004.

2000 Cup champ Bobby Labonte won the pole for the race with a surprising driver coming in second. It was Bill Elliott, who scaled down to a part-time ride for Evernham Motorsports.

Elliott wrestled the lead from Labonte and led the first 19 laps.          Continue reading
