Ho-Hum: Another Top-Two For Harvick

Does the lead for the Sprint Cup Series Preview ever change?

Kevin Harvick has been THE story for weeks now, posting his eighth consecutive top-two finish with a runner-up showing at Auto Club.

The No. 4 Chevrolet driver now has two wins and three second-place performances this season and leads Joey Logano by 27 points in the Sprint Cup Series standings.  Continue reading

Sprint Cup Series at Fontana Preview and Fantasy Picks

Zachs-SCS-Preview-Fantasy-PicksHere are my picks for the Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway, on March 22, at 3:30 pm ET on FOX

Contenders

Kurt Busch– Jamie McMurray said it best on twitter in saying,

“The 41 and 4 are in another league right now”.

After a strong showing last week Kurt is on the right track and has been fast all weekend. Look for him and teammate Kevin Harvick to battle it out this weekend.

Kyle Larson– Larson is a guy who can find speed  by being able to race two grooves and adjust throughout the race. Winning is first Xfinity series race here last year, wouldn’t it be something to see him pull his first Sprint Cup race a year later?

Jimmie Johnson Starts from the Back and Dominates Late in Atlanta Win

Coors Light Polesitter Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick dominated the early and middle stages of Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway—before Jimmie Johnson decided to crash the party.

Johnson didn’t take the lead in the second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the season until Lap 198 of 325, but from then on, his No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet was the class of the field, leading six times for 92 laps in winning for the fourth time at Atlanta and for the 71st time in his career. Logano Aims For Rare 2-fer

Joey Logano followed up his career-year of 2014 with a stirring win in the Daytona 500, becoming the second youngest driver to win the Great American Race at 24 years old.

Now he looks to accomplish another rare feat: Back-to-back wins in the season’s first two races. It’s only happened five times since the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series’ inception in 1949, the last by Matt Kenseth in 2009. The five drivers to do it: Marvin Panch (1957), Bob Welborn (1959), David Pearson (1976), Jeff Gordon (1997) and Kenseth.  Continue reading

Favorites

Kevin Harvick – He looked great through practice and qualifying until the engine failure. Although he will start in the back he will find guys like Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Matt Kenseth back there with him. I think he has the car in terms of race trim but what will the engine failure cost him anything? Should be Interesting.  Continue reading
