In the closing laps of Tuesday night’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Chase Elliott held off a determined charge from Kyle Busch. In the closing laps, Chase Elliott took the lead to earn the victory and a $100,000 bounty offered to any full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver who could beat Busch.

The second Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway was an exciting finish. Denny Hamlin was leading the Toyota 500, with Chase Elliott in close pursuit. Suddenly, Kyle Busch nipped the No. 9 car in the rear quarter panel, spinning Elliott around and out of contention. Hamlin wins the rain-shortened race, Busch still finishes second, Kevin Harvick is third, with Brad Keselowski and Erik Jones rounding out the top-five.

In Friday’s time trials, Elliott won the pole for Sunday’s FanShield 500, marking the eighth straight top-ten start at Phoenix for the driver of the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
Finishing races at the one-mile track, however, has been a problem for Elliott, and that proved true once again in the fourth NASCAR Cup Series event of the 2020 season. Elliott led the first 60 laps and finished second to Kevin Harvick in Stage 1.
