NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams are preparing for one of their première races of the season, the Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 29th.  One of the most grueling events on the track, drivers will need the stamina to race 600 miles over 400 laps from day into the night on Sunday. Television coverage starts at 5:30 pm ET on FOX with a green flag around 6 pm ET. Radio Coverage is on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Smoke Searches for First Coca-Cola 600 Win in Final Start

Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart ranks tied for 13th on the all-time victories list, but has never won the Coca-Cola 600.

The member of the Coca-Cola Racing family will attempt to capture his first checkered flag in his last start in NASCAR’s longest race on Sunday.

Stewart’s best finish in the Coca-Cola 600 was a third-place showing in 2001. In 33 starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway (tied with Matt Kenseth for the most among active drivers), Stewart claims one win (fall of 2003), six top-fives, 13 top-tens and an average finish of 14.5. Continue reading →

NASCAR Partners with Steven Soderbergh on Heist-Themed Film Project

Channing Tatum to Star in “Logan Lucky” for Soderbergh’s Return to the Big Screen

 NASCAR® is collaborating with Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh on a feature film entitled Logan Lucky, starring Channing Tatum alongside Daniel Craig, Riley Keough, Adam Driver and Seth MacFarlane. Depicting a theoretical heist at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the project will mark Soderbergh’s first feature film since announcing his retirement from the film industry in 2013. Soderbergh, who also directed heist film Ocean’s Eleven, is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed Traffic and Erin Brockovich, which garnered him two Oscar nominations and the accolade of Best Director. NASCAR Industry to Honor Fallen U.S. Armed Forces Members with

600 Miles of Remembrance at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Windshield Tribute Part of NASCAR: An American Salute at Coca-Cola 600

Continuing the sport’s long-standing tradition of honoring the United States Armed Forces, all 40 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers will bear the name of a fallen service member on their race car windshields during Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (6 p.m. ET on FOX, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), NASCAR announced today.

For the second consecutive year, “600 Miles of Remembrance” will pay tribute this Memorial Day Weekend to those who bravely served and died defending our country. Windshield headers normally reserved for drivers’ last names will read “SGT HARVEY,” “LCPL RAMIREZ,” and “SPC BEAUDOIN,” among other names of the fallen.  Continue reading →

Denny Hamlin Clarifies Need for Rules Package Change at Sprint All-Star Race

This weekend kicks off ten ‘Days of Thunder’ at Charlotte Motor Speedway starting with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday, May 20th, then the Sprint Showdown and All-Star races on Saturday, May 21st. Days of Thunder will close with the Sprint Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 29th.

The defending winner of last year’s Sprint All-Star race is Denny Hamlin and he says that recent changes in the format and rules package will bring plenty of strategy into play this weekend and he’s optimistic about the quality of racing fans will see on Saturday night. Continue reading →
