While the three NASCAR national series are off this weekend, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will head to South Carolina and Greenville Pickens Speedway. The stars and cars of the K&N East will take to the flat half-mile oval for the third race of the 2016 season. Only eight drivers from last year’s race are on the entry list and there are 11 rookies vying for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award.
One of those rookies is Sarah Cornett-Ching, who is competing for the K&N East Rookie of the Year title this season while also running some ARCA Racing Series and CARS Super Late Model Tour events. Continue reading →
NASCAR K&N Pro Series East drivers are anxious to decide their points leader after K&N West driver, Todd Gilliland won their season opener at New Smyrna in February. Their wait is over with the Mobile 200 starting today at 3 pm ET at Mobile International Speedway.
Several contenders are ready to show their talent behind the wheel with hopes of taking over the points lead when the checkered flag waves today.
Spencer Davis heads into Mobile as the K&N East leader in the series standings. The rookie is overcoming a destroyed car after getting into an accident during the extra lap at New Smyrna. In his inaugural race at Motordrome Speedway, 17-year-old Dillon Bassett grabbed a breakthrough NASCAR K&N East victory in the UPMC Health Plan 150, becoming the 100th different winner in series history.
Getting to the finish line was the challenge for Bassett, from Winston-Salem, NC, with two late-race red flags then intense racing from competitor Austin Hill in the closing laps. Continue reading →
