Kyle Busch won from the Coors Light pole—as he almost always does—and the race for the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship remains excruciating tight.

Busch held off charging series leader Austin Dillon in Friday night’s Dollar General 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Earlier in the day, Busch won his ninth NNS pole of the season, and for the eighth time in nine tries this year, Busch won from the top starting spot.

The victory is the series-best 11th of the season for Busch, who won for the eighth time in the series at Charlotte and for the 62nd time in his career, extending his own series record. In Victory Lane, Busch announced that he and wife Samantha are donating all the race winnings to the Pretty in Pink Foundation to combat breast cancer. Continue reading

Dedicated race fans are nothing new to NASCAR, but the diverse group headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway for this weekend’s Bank of America 500 weekend festivities may be as unique a group as any in recent memory.

Fans from 48 states and as far away as Canada, Australia and Puerto Rico will be on hand for this weekend’s Bank of America 500. In preparation for race week at Charlotte Motor Speedway Oct. 10-12, speedway officials want to make sure race fans and area residents are fully equipped to handle race day traffic by providing safe and efficient travel routes and information.

With help from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP), Charlotte Motor Speedway is working to ease travel for fans heading to and from the races. The heaviest traffic is expected on I-85, U.S. 29, N.C. 49 and Bruton Smith Boulevard.

With the Bank of America 500 race weekend coming up, Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) is offering many ways for fans to enhance the fan racing experience. Through next week, various auctions are available online such as a Ride of a Lifetime with the stars of NASCAR, a meet & greet with prerace concert act the Goo Goo Dolls and other VIP experiences, including a trip to Victory Lane. Besides auctions, fans can donate directly to this great cause and attend SCC-sponsored functions such as NASCAR Night and the Ultimate Fan Track Walk where 100 percent of the proceeds support SCC programs. Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 Powered by Coca-Cola Preview

DollarGeneral300Chicagoland Speedway is host to the Nationwide Series drivers and their Dollar General 300 Powered by Coca-Cola race on Saturday, September 14th. Television coverage begins at 3:30 pm ET on ESPN2 with radio coverage on MRN, Sirius XM radio, channel 90 for all 300 miles and a total of 200 laps.

The last visit by the Nationwide Series to Chicagoland Speedway in July, Sam Hornish Jr finished runner-up to Sprint Cup regular Joey Logano and it was Austin Dillon crossing the finish line third. Continue reading
