Dillon Closing In On Sought-After Points Lead

Edging out one of the most competitive fields of the year, Ty Dillon posted his first career NASCAR Nationwide Series win at the historic 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In doing so, he claimed Nationwide Insurance’s $100,000 Dash 4 Cash check, also closing the gap of -15 between he and the points leader, Chase Elliott. Pocono Raceway is extending the show this year as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is now for 150 miles instead of its previous 125. The extra mileage won’t be too much of an added burden to the drivers’ stamina; three of the last four races have ended with a green/white checkered finish in 2010, 2011 and 2013. Continue reading

On the Fourth of July, it was only fitting that the Subway Firecracker 250 featured fireworks at the finish. An intense last two laps allowed many players to emerge in the quest for victory. Once the checkered flag flew, it was JR Motorsports sweeping the top two spots as Kasey Kahne claimed victory. He barely edged out teammate Regan Smith who was strongest throughout the night. Smith, Sadler Pressure Packed Championship Run Continues

The Nationwide Series is heading into an open weekend giving drivers a chance to catch their breath before taking on their longest stretch on the schedule.

After 12 races, first place Regan Smith and second place, Elliott Sadler have a mere four-point difference in the series standings. Smith and Sadler are the class of the series, but they’re watching their rear view mirror for third-place Chase Elliott, a two-time winner and rookie contender.
