With a car that wasn’t handling particularly well at a track that isn’t one of his best, Kyle Larson nevertheless engineered a ninth-place finish in Sunday’s First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway and left the track in seventh place in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoff standings.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – It took a post-race fracas on pit road to distract from the dominance of Martin Truex Jr., who led a career-best 464 laps in winning Sunday’s First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway and punched his ticket for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship 4 race.

The first race within the Round of Eight was hosted in
Martinsville Speedway. This half mile paperclip gave a good show in yesterday’s
race as it usually does. Tight racing with drivers bumping each other for
position. With this being the first race of this round of the playoffs, all
eight drivers have their eyes on the championship round in Miami.
