Coming to NASCAR in 2008, Jimmy Small was working out of NASCAR’s Daytona Beach, Fla., headquarters coordinating event weekends with tracks, television partners and teams. Small worked with NASCAR in various business-building capacities, including serving as senior manager for team marketing services within the NASCAR Industry Services department out of the Charlotte, N.C., office. Brad Keselowski Says he Owed it to Team to Race at Iowa Speedway

While most of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage will take a much deserved weekend off for Father’s Day next weekend, driver Brad Keselowski won’t and will drive the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang in the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Iowa Speedway on Sun., Jun. 19.

Keselowski will make his sixth XFINITY start of the season at the NASCAR-owned short track, but the 2012 Cup champion said it was more than just liking the track as the reason for giving up some coveted downtime. Continue reading

Daniel Suarez Scores Breakthrough Victory at Michigan

Daniel Suarez was speechless—and justifiably so.

The Mexican driver had just passed Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch for the lead on the next-to-last lap and held on to win Saturday’s Menards 250 presented by Valvoline NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Michigan International Speedway by 0.280 seconds over the man who sets the standard in the series.

The first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR national series race, Suarez overcame a pit road speeding penalty assessed on lap 29 of 125 under the first of three cautions. He restarted eighth after the third caution on lap 91, caught and passed Elliott Sadler for second place with ten laps left and ran down Busch for the lead on lap 124. Continue reading

Drew Herring Takes Part in Young Guns Program at JGL Racing

Hailing from Benson, North Carolina, Drew Herring will pilot the No. 24 Toyota in the upcoming NASCAR XFINITY Series, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet 200 at Dover International Speedway. This is Herring’s debut in the successful Young Guns program at JGL Racing and his 16th career start in the XFINITY Series.

The JGL Racing Young Guns program highlights several rising stars in NASCAR and Herring joins Matt Tifft, Corey Lajoie and Brandon McReynolds, taking part in the program with the organization. Continue reading

Haas Racing Development Driver Nick Drake Making Truck Series Debut at Dover International Speedway

Nick Drake, a Haas Racing development driver will make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut next weekend at Dover (Del.) International Speedway, CATCHFENCE.com has confirmed.

Drake, 20, will drive the No. 49 Haas Automation Chevrolet Silverado in the Dover 200 on May 13 in a collaborative effort between JR Motorsports and Premium Motorsports. Dave McCarty, a longtime veteran of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will serve as crew chief. Continue reading
