ARCA Racing Series 2014 champion, and team owner Mason Mitchell returns to a seat behind the wheel of his No. 98 Karl Chevrolet for 100 laps at Kansas Speedway in the Kansas 150 on Friday night.

As the defending race winner, this event marks Mitchell’s third start of the 2016 season after finishing sixth at DuQuoin and eighth at Iowa. A native of West Des Moines, Iowa, Mitchell has four starts at the 1.5-Mile Kansas track with a victory last year and three top-five finishes. Continue reading →

DEWALT Tools Spreads Sponsorship Across Joe Gibbs Racing; Gibbs Talks Matt Kenseth Contract

Joe Gibbs Racing announced Thursday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway that DEWALT Tools will step up their commitment within the organization, with a primary focus on Matt Kenseth in 2016 and 2017.

Promoting their new DEWALT FLEXVOLT product, the company will sponsor Kenseth in Saturday’s Coke Zero 400 and for four of the 10 Chase races at Chicagoland Speedway, Dover International Speedway, Kansas Speedway and the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway respectively. Continue reading →

Longtime NASCAR Broadcaster Eli Gold Resigns From MRN Radio

Longtime NASCAR broadcaster Eli Gold has resigned from the Motor Racing Network, the company’s president David Hyatt confirmed to CATCHFENCE.com

Gold’s nearly 40-year tenure at MRN Radio dated back to the 1976 World 600 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, where he covered Turns 1 and 2 for the network.

In addition to his duties at MRN, the 62-year-old Gold had been hosting the weekly syndicated show NASCAR Live since 1982. Continue reading →

Late Pass Gives William Byron Second Career Victory

Teenager William Byron overhauled Matt Crafton with five laps remaining and drove to victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rattlesnake 400 Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway.

Byron, of Kyle Busch Motorsports, posted his second series victory at the expense of Crafton, who dominated the 167-lapper after brushing the turn three wall 11 laps into the night. Byron earned his breakthrough series victory earlier this season at Kansas Speedway, a 1.5-mile quad-oval similar to TMS.

Byron, 18, is the youngest Truck Series winner at TMS and the second-youngest overall, a record held by Chase Elliott in the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2014. Continue reading →

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams are preparing for 200 miles of racing action over 200 laps of the JACOB Companies 200 at Dover International Speedway tonight, May 13th.  FOX Sports 1 starts their pre-race coverage at 5 pm ET with a green flag around 5:30 pm ET and radio coverage is on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

 

Will. I. Am.: Byron Gets it Started with First Career Win

William Byron had a ‘good night’ last Friday.

The Kyle Busch Motorsports driver captured his first win in only his fifth career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start. Byron, who led the first 33 laps of his career earlier in the race, retook the point on the last go-around of NASCAR Overtime to take the victory that virtually guarantees him a spot in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase.
