Thrilling Truck Finale Leaves Busch Victorious, Crafton as Champion

A season of fantastic racing for the Camping World Truck Series ended with more on Friday night. Exhilarating restarts in the last laps of the race left the door open for any driver to win. Kyle Busch proved too strong as he hung on for his fifth truck victory of the season. His performance also claimed the owner’s championship for Kyle Busch Motorsports. A season full of first-time winners added another name to the list Friday night at Phoenix when Erik Jones drove into victory lane. Jones, 17, has been competing on a part-time basis in the Camping World Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports this season. A runner-up finish at Iowa earlier in the season showed Jones’ potential and now a win marks his presence in NASCAR. Continue reading

A Dillon Domination in Texas

Ty Dillon was in a race of his own Friday night at the Texas Motor Speedway. The No.3 truck absolutely crushed the field throughout the event en route to Dillon’s second victory of the season. He is doing all he can at this point in the season to chase down points leader Matt Crafton. Sauter Avoids Carnage to Pick Up Plate Track Sweep at Talladega

Dramatic closing laps left Johnny Sauter in victory lane after a chaotic day at Talladega. Sauter had help from teammate Matt Crafton for most of the race. It was Crafton pushing Sauter on the last restart and that propelled Sauter to his third win of the season.

The destiny of the championship battle took a wild turn at Talladega. Throughout the afternoon, many different scenarios arose that could have put a drastic spin to the title hunt. James Buescher led early and was one of the early favorites which would have dramatically helped his championship case. Point’s leader Crafton stayed at the back for a good part of the race, but at the finish, he made a charge toward the front. Continue reading

Number 17 pays off big for Timothy Peters in Las Vegas

Timothy Peters took advantage of a rare mistake by Ron Hornaday Jr. on the last restart at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to win the Smith’s 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

Peters started 12th and when the last caution came out late in the race, he was running second to Hornaday, who is known for his prowess on restarts. When the green flag flew with two laps to go, Hornaday spun his tires and Peters powered to the lead. As Hornaday faded back, Peters held off Johnny Sauter to record his seventh career victory, his second of the season and his first in Las Vegas. Continue reading
