Three weeks in and the fireworks continued on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. After wins from Michael McDowell and Christopher Bell to start the season, of course, Chris Buescher would spoil the party and dominate the first stage. Buescher would end up slipping back into the field midway through the second stage, but William Byron would take over, winning the second stage and leading over 100 laps for a statement win at the 1.5-miler. There wasn’t much movement at the top of the rankings this week, but the middle and bottom saw some big shakeups.

The post-Daytona 500 power ranking is the result of a wild and crazy NASCAR Cup Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway with all the highs and lows of victory and defeat.
In a race as crazy as the 2021 Daytona 500, it seems only fitting a driver such as Michael McDowell should come out on top.
Following an early wreck that claimed contenders such as Aric Almirola, Alex Bowman, Martin Truex Jr., Matt DiBenedetto, and William Byron, the race went into a rain delay that lasted over five hours. The early wreck brought about a lengthy run of single-file racing, with the remaining drivers just trying to maintain position and conserve their cars.

In a stunning upset at the end of an action-filled, rain-interrupted Daytona 500, Front Row Motorsports driver Michael McDowell claimed his first NASCAR Cup Series victory after charging into the lead during a brutal multicar wreck in the third turn on the final lap.
