Stewart Haas Racing Calls on The Mayor of NASCAR – Jeff Burton

On Wednesday morning Greg Zipadelli, VP of Competition at Stewart Haas Racing called NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jeff Burton, known as the Mayor of NASCAR and asked if he had any interest in racing this weekend at Michigan International Speedway, should Tony Stewart decide to not race.

Stewart is still grieving and dealing with the aftermath of the unfortunate incident at Canandaigua Motorsports Park this past weekend and has decided to not race at Michigan this weekend. For an organization that is gingerly taking each day as it comes, Burton is a good choice for the challenging circumstances facing the team.  Continue reading

Family Feud: Nemecheks Strikes Up Friendly Rivalry

A father-son rivalry is brewing in the Camping World Truck Series.

Joe Nemechek and his son John Hunter, who share the No. 8 SWM-NEMCO Motorsports Toyota Tundra SWM, have adopted a “friendly family challenge” this season, comparing finishes and laps led. Powerhouse Hendrick Motorsports Captures Fifth Consecutive Win at Michigan.

Jimmie Johnson finally earns his first win at Michigan International Speedway and it’s his third visit to victory lane this season.

The six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup series champion took command of the lead on lap 191 and from there he cruised to the checkered flag at Sunday’s Quicken Loans 400 to end a 24-race drought. Continue reading
