NASCAR Releases 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series Schedule

NASCAR today announced the 2014 schedule for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the 33rd season of racing for the second-most popular motorsports series in the United States. NASCAR’s Nationwide Series drivers are ready for their next race at the world’s fastest half-mile – Bristol Motor Speedway, Friday, August 23rd. Television coverage starts at 7:30pm ET on ESPN (check your local listings) and radio coverage is on PRN, Sirius XM, channel 90.
The Nationwide Series’ points battle is narrowing to just five contenders: Sam Hornish Jr, Elliott Sadler, Regan Smith, Austin Dillon and Brian Vickers. With just 18 points separating them, all five drivers have a real shot at capturing the title. Continue reading →
Greg Biffle‘s season has stalled this summer, as his last top-five finish was a victory in June at Michigan International Speedway. Biffle is also the defending winner of the two-mile track’s August event in 2012. The good news for his team is they are returning to Michigan this weekend, hungry for another victory that could be his third consecutive and fourth overall win at the track.
Ninth in NASCAR‘s Sprint Cup Series standings, Biffle needs a boost as he’s barely hanging on to a provisional Chase berth. He’s just four points ahead of 11th-place Kurt Busch, who is looking for success to secure his place in the Chase. Provisional Wild Card holder Kasey Kahne fell out of the top-ten last Sunday by a late-race accident at Watkins Glen is another marker back in 12th-place and already owns a pair of victories this season. Kasey Kahne made Team Hendrick proud on Sunday at Pocono after he took the win in a day they totally dominated. A wild afternoon started with pole-sitter Jimmie Johnson leading, but when he ran into trouble just shy of the mid-point of the race, Kahne rose to the top spot. Then when a late caution sprung a dash for the win, it was Jeff Gordon taking over the lead but he was passed on another late restart by Kahne. It was a decent day for Hendrick teams to say the least and they’ll be sipping the champagne tonight. Continue reading →
