NASCAR XFINITY Series, Drive for the Cure 300 at Charlotte Preview

NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers will race 300 miles over 200 laps in the Drive for the Cure 300 on Sunday, October 9th. NBC Sports Network coverage begins at 4 pm ET (or immediately after the Sprint Cup race – whichever comes first) with radio coverage on PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

What to Watch For: Daniel Suarez (6.6) and Elliott Sadler (8.9) – both of whom have advanced to the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase Round of 8 via victories – lead all championship contenders in average finish at 1.5-mile tracks this year.

The Chase bubble is packed with ten drivers within 17 points of elimination. Here’s where the drivers who haven’t clinched berths in the Round of 8 stand: Justin Allgaier (17 points ahead of Ty Dillon on the cutoff line), Brendan Gaughan (+14), Ryan Reed (+11), Darrell Wallace Jr. (+10), Blake Koch (+4), Brennan Poole (+3), Dillon (-3 points below Brennan Poole on the cutoff line), Erik Jones (-4), Ryan Sieg (-10) and Brandon Jones (-18). NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams will race 300 miles over 200 laps in the DC Solar 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway at 8:30 pm ET Saturday, October 1st. Television coverage is on FOX Sports 1 with radio coverage on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

What to Watch For: Every Chase driver except for William Byron competed in last year’s race at Las Vegas. The highest finishing Chaser was Timothy Peters (second), followed by Ben Kennedy (third), John Hunter Nemechek (fourth), Daniel Hemric (sixth), Matt Crafton (eighth) and Christopher Bell (14th).

William Byron Wins First-Ever NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase Race

William Byron stole a page from his mentor and team owner, Kyle Busch.

Leading 161 of 175 laps in Saturday’s UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway – the first race in the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase – Byron cruised to victory, the way Busch has done so many times before, and punched his ticket into the Chase’s Round of 6.

Not that runner-up Christopher Bell, Byron’s stablemate at Kyle Busch Motorsports, didn’t make it interesting in the closing laps. As Byron worked traffic in the late going, Bell closed from 1.325 seconds behind with five laps left to 0.430 seconds down on the next-to-last lap. Continue reading →

John Hunter Nemechek Wins Wild Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

In what has quickly become tradition for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series when it races north of the border, the Chevrolet Silverado 250 produced yet another wild and memorable finish.

This time around at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, John Hunter Nemechek and Cole Custer made contact on the last corner of the last lap and crossed the start-finish line in the grass in a virtual tie.

Following a few moments of deliberations, NASCAR officials determined Nemechek won the race by 0.034 seconds.
