Jeb Burton Scores First NASCAR Camping World Truck Win in Texas

Rookie Jeb Burton added another chapter to his family’s racing history Friday night when he won the 17th annual WinStar World Casino 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Burton, the 20-year-old son of 2002 Daytona 500 champion Ward Burton, posted his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory at the expense of Ty Dillon, grandson of NASCAR championship team-owner Richard Childress. The No. 2 Team Facing More Penalties

Following the race at Dover Sunday, the No. 2 of Brad Keselowski failed post-race inspection. The car was found too low during the inspection process, after the race. This comes on the heels of crew chief Paul Wolfe’s return to top the pit box after a three-week suspension from penalties at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year.

Martin Truex Jr. failed post-race inspection earlier this year for his car being too low at Texas and resulted in a six-point penalty. Brad Keselowski’s team could be facing the same penalty. Continue reading

In the aftermath of the bombings in Boston, NASCAR is asking that teams be on the look out as they roam through the garage for any suspicious activity going forward.

A crew chiefs-only meeting was called Saturday morning at Richmond International Raceway to ask teams to be more aware of activity going on in the pit area. Penske Racing Penalized by NASCAR

The punishment has been dealt to the No. 2 & 22 teams of Penske Racing after their actions at Texas Motor Speedway. Both crew chiefs, Paul Wolfe and Todd Gordon, have been suspended and fined. Drivers, Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski, have also been penalized after the teams’ actions at Texas.

The penalties handed down to Penske Racing from NASCAR involves drivers and crew. Saturday, NASCAR confiscated the rear-end housing off both the No. 2 and 22 cars hours before the race. According to NASCAR, the rules broken by Penske Racing were in violation of section 12-1; 12-4J and 20-12. Continue reading
