Big Names and Active Drivers Add Star Power to NASCAR’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Big Name Inductors and Active Drivers Add to NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Star Power 

A brother, a contemporary, a rival, a colleague and a friend will all take the stage to induct this year’s Class of 2014 into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Richard Petty, Waddell Wilson, Harry Gant, Humpy Wheeler and Blake Shelton will induct the fifth class – Maurice Petty, Fireball Roberts, Jack Ingram, Tim Flock and Dale Jarrett – on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C.

The five legends, who account for 15 NASCAR championships, will also be joined on stage by five current stars, combining for 15 national series championships of their own. Aric Almirola, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart will all take part in the evening’s festivities.

The Induction Ceremony begins at 7 p.m. ET and will air live on FOX Sports 1, Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Tickets start at $45 and are available at www.nascarhall.com/inductees/induction-ceremony and the NASCAR Hall of Fame box office. Continue reading

Jason Leffler’s  Memory and Legacy Live On in this Week’s Chili Bowl Races

Jason Leffler was a racer’s racer in every sense of the word.  He was what some in racing call a journeyman racer, as he raced anything and everything just to race.  The night he died, Leffler was competing in a race with a winner’s purse of only $7,000; a big departure from the paydays he experienced during his days of NASCAR racing.

 

Another big part of Leffler’s life was Charlie Dean, his son with Alison East. They divorced leaving time with Charlie Dean at a premium for Leffler. Charlie Dean was five-years-old at the time of his father’s death and they resided in North Carolina.  Continue reading

Looking back on 2013, NASCAR had a remarkable year. From storylines galore to scandals that challenged the sport’s credibility, NASCAR never stayed quiet. Going into the year, there were many more questions than answers. Fans wondered what was to come from all the ‘newness’ the sport was expecting which included the Gen 6 car and drivers in new rides. Whatever went into this season, it made for one exciting year. The lesson learned throughout 2013 was to expect the unexpected because the year in NASCAR featured truly unexpected events. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ driver Tony Stewart’s reaction to being named recipient of the 2013 NMPA Myers Brothers Award was emotional and heartfelt.

“This is crazy,” said the three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion. “What an honor. It’s very humbling.”

Stewart was honored by the National Motor Sports Press Association (NMPA) during Thursday’s annual NASCAR NMPA Myers Brothers Awards Luncheon at Wynn Las Vegas for a variety of reasons – as a fierce competitor, championship team owner and race track promoter.  Continue reading
