Once again during Saturday afternoon’s Nationwide Series race at Texas, it was the No.22 car in victory lane. One of the most dominating seasons continues for the Penske Racing entry. This victory is the No.22 car’s twelfth on the year and Keselowski’s sixth. The owner’s championship is very much within reach for this team and this race solidified that point.

A Penske parade was up front early when Sam Hornish Jr. took the lead from Alex Bowman on lap five and then Keselowski passed Hornish Jr. one lap later. After the Penske stint up front, Joe Gibbs Racing held the top positions for mostly the mid-part of the race.

Denny Hamlin went to the lead on lap 81, but teammate Matt Kenseth grabbed the top spot away on lap 96. As those two JGR cars flourished, Kyle Busch’s day took a turn for the worse. The second caution of the day flew for Busch on lap 110 when he took a spin off  turn four. Busch got loose through the turn before backing his car into the outside wall. The No.54 car held the lead in the owner’s points before the race, but a dismal race for Busch and a stellar one for the No.22 car will affect their points standing.

Following the last round of green flag pit stops, Hamlin was back out front. He held the lead through a few restarts, but lost the top spot for good when Keselowski stormed passed with 15 laps left to run.

It was all Keselowski from there as he picked up his first career victory at Texas Motor Speedway. This win also gives the No.22 car an edge in the owner’s points with two races remaining.

The driver’s points didn’t change much as Austin Dillon maintains the top spot. Sam Hornish Jr. finished third, but still trails Dillon by six points. With two races remaining, it’s anyone’s game. Both are strong challengers throughout the season so not making a mistake will be the key to deciding the series’ next champion.
