Completing just one full year in the Legends car before winning the 2013 US Legends Young Lions Division National Championship, William Byron turned Pro in January of 2014. He won the 2014 Charlotte (NC) Winter Heat Series US Legends Pro Championship and was then crowned the Pro Legends Champion at Winter Nationals in Florida, taking a huge step in his young racing career.

Byron was signed by JR Motorsports in January of 2014 to compete regionally for NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr’s late-model program. His late-model effort began at Hickory (NC) Speedway, with sponsor Liberty University, a residential and online university in Lynchburg, VA. Continue reading

After finishing second in the K&N East season opener at New Smyrna in February, 17-year-old Dalton Sargeant is still smiling today after winning the K&N West season opener the NAPA Auto Parts 150 at Kern County Raceway on Saturday night.

In addition to his runner-up finish at New Smyrna, Sargeant also finished second in the 2014 Snowball Derby at Five-Flags Speedway in December and came home with a third place finish from the SRL Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway last month. So, coming home to Boca Raton, FL with the trophy this weekend is just that much sweeter. Continue reading

NASCAR today unveiled modifications to the qualifying format at superspeedways across all three national series. The updated format will take effect at Talladega Superspeedway for the NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series next month.

Denny Hamlin holds of Brad Keselowski for Martinsville Sprint Cup win

With Brad Keselowski beating a tattoo into his rear bumper, and with his No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota sliding sideways as it approached the checkered flag, Denny Hamlin held on to his car and held off Keselowski to win Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

In winning his first race of the season, his fifth at the .526-mile short track and the 25th of his career, Hamlin took the lead for good on lap 473 of 500, passing teammate Matt Kenseth for the top spot. Two laps later, Keselowski surged past Kenseth and tracked down Hamlin, setting up a breathtaking battle in the closing laps. Continue reading
