The Sprint Cup Series continues their west coast swing this weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After a shaky first two races of the season, many teams will look for a rebound performance in “Sin City.” The Las Vegas Motor Speedway has been referred to as “Jimmie’s House” since the five-time champion always seems to run well at the track. Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards are the latest drivers to claim victory in Vegas but, anyone could come out of Vegas on-top this weekend.

The green flag for the Kobalt Tools 400 is set to wave on Sunday March 10th, 2013 at 3:16 PM EST (12:16 PM PT). The race will consist of 267 laps and 400.5 miles. The weather for race day at Las Vegas looks like great racing weather with sunny conditions and a high temperature of 69 F and a low of 45 F with a zero percent chance of rain. The race can be seen on TV on FOX and a radio broadcast of the race can be heard on PRN. Continue reading

It took almost two years but, Carl Edwards finally got back to victory lane Sunday afternoon in Phoenix. Edwards stayed up front for most of the race and he controlled the final seventy laps from the lead. Next week at Las Vegas would have been the two-year mark since Edwards’ last win but, now that stat is thrown out the window since Edwards has finally got back to victory lane. The race played out fairly calm but, definitely competitive and the last restart with two to go was stand-on-your-feet worthy. Continue reading

Last time the Sprint Cup Series left Phoenix, we had a fight in the garage, Clint Bowyer running and a big mess on the front straightway. Pure excitement that was. Things may be a bit different this time around but, pure excitement always seems to arrive at the Phoenix International Raceway and this Sunday should be no different. After the track was reconfigured in 2011, the excitement has been at an all-time high. The cars can pass just about anywhere and the dog-leg on the backstretch makes for some exciting side-by-side racing. This gem in the desert always puts on quite a performance.

The Subway Fresh Fit 500(k) will take place on Sunday March 3rd, 2013 and the expected time the green flag will wave is 3:14 PM EST (1:14 PM MT). The race will feature 312 exciting laps and 312 (500k) miles. The weather for race day is looking good with partly cloudy conditions and a 10% chance of rain. The high temperature for the day will be 83 F and the low will be 52 F. The TV broadcast of the race can be seen live on FOX and the radio version of the broadcast can be heard on MRN. The Phoenix International Raceway is the site of the second stop on the 2013 Nationwide Series schedule. A much more calm-mannered race is expected this Saturday at Phoenix but, championship hopefuls will look to get ahead of the game and that could create some excitement.
