15th Year as “Official News Site of Snowball Derby” for Speed51.com

The Snowball Derby is the pinnacle of pavement short track racing in America.  The crown jewel event attracts hundreds of race cars, thousands of attendees and even more fans following along through Speed51.com.  Five Flags Speedway announced Tuesday that Speed51.com powered by JEGS will be the “Official News Site of the Snowball Derby” for a 15th consecutive year.

While no amount of coverage will ever substitute for actually being a part of the Snowball Derby experience, 51 will bring fans closer to the action than ever before with several new interactive features, as well as Trackside Now coverage.

Briscoe & Cunningham Motorsports Wrap up 2016 ARCA Series Championship with Kansas 150 Win

As soon as Chase Briscoe rolled on the track Friday at Kansas Speedway, he became the 2016 ARCA Racing Series champion.  That wasn’t as simple as it sounds, as weather caused the practice sessions to be cancelled, with the originally scheduled qualifying time being used for practice.  As a result of that schedule change, the starting line-up was set by car owner points, with Briscoe on the pole—his tenth time starting there (six as a result of on-track qualifying and four from being the points leader or leader in practice when rain cancelled qualifying). Seventeen year-old Zane Smith will move up his earlier reported ARCA Racing Series debut and drive for Venturini Motorsports (VMS) in next week’s highly anticipated Fall Classic at Salem Speedway on Saturday, September 10.

Smith, already scheduled to make his Kentucky Speedway debut later this month, will drive VMS’ No.66 Icon Vehicle Dynamics Toyota at the famed Indiana half-mile short track. Continue reading →

Cunningham Motorsports has announced that Grant Enfinger will become the ninth driver to take the reins of their No. 22 Ford, when teams pull into the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on Sunday, September 4.  Enfinger, who is the 2015 ARCA Racing Series champion, was the logical choice of co-owners Briggs Cunningham and Kerry Scherer, since Grant is the reigning pole and race winner at the one-mile dirt track in DuQuoin, Illinois. Justin Haley Captures First Career ARCA Win in Dramatic Fashion at The Illinois State Fairgrounds

Before Sunday, 17-year-old Justin Haley hadn’t raced on dirt since early on in his career when he raced mini sprints. Haley made up for lost time, becoming the youngest winner in the history of the Illinois State Fairgrounds at age 17. A crash between the two leaders allowed Haley to claim the lead. He never looked back, capturing the first ARCA win of his young career and second win of the 2016 season for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM). Continue reading →
