A season full of first-time winners added another name to the list Friday night at Phoenix when Erik Jones drove into victory lane. Jones, 17, has been competing on a part-time basis in the Camping World Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports this season. Jimmie Johnson produced a championship caliber performance Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. Johnson paced the field for most of the day and if he wasn’t up front, he was more than likely in the top three. This is the type of race where Johnson shows why he’s a five-time champion. Once again during Saturday afternoon’s Nationwide Series race at Texas, it was the No.22 car in victory lane. One of the most dominating seasons continues for the Penske Racing entry. This victory is the No.22 car’s twelfth on the year and Keselowski’s sixth. The owner’s championship is very much within reach for this team and this race solidified that point.
A Penske parade was up front early when Sam Hornish Jr. took the lead from Alex Bowman on lap five and then Keselowski passed Hornish Jr. one lap later. After the Penske stint up front, Joe Gibbs Racing held the top positions for mostly the mid-part of the race. Continue reading →
Ty Dillon was in a race of his own Friday night at the Texas Motor Speedway. The No.3 truck absolutely crushed the field throughout the event en route to Dillon’s second victory of the season. He is doing all he can at this point in the season to chase down points leader Matt Crafton. Crafton had yet another solid performance giving him the potential of clinching the championship at Phoenix next weekend on the table. Continue reading →
