Charlotte Motor Speedway – Round Five

Charlotte Motor Speedway is actually located in Concord, North Carolina, just outside Charlotte and opened in 1960, hosting its first World 600, now known as the Coca Cola 600. Unfortunately, about one year later, the track fell into chapter 11 bankruptcy, due to poor ticket sales.

Today, Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts three Sprint Cup Series, two Nationwide and one Camping World Truck Series events, among other racing action each year. Continue reading

Chase Tracker – The Contenders after Talladega

This week’s Chase Tracker after Talladega gave drivers a bit of a shakeup with the last lap wreck involving 25 drivers, including 8 Chase contenders, but left the top-three Chase contenders the same. Keselowski came in the points leader and left as the points leader, with Jimmie Johnson remaining in second place and Denny Hamlin, third in the point standings.

Also, Kyle Busch remains the Best of the Rest non-Chase contenders, after race four of the 2012 Chase season.

Brad Keselowski Opens the Chase with a Win

Beating Jimmie Johnson was a hard task the whole day but after the last pit stop, Keselowski figured out how to pass Johnson.

Johnson dominated the race for most of the day and Keselowski was the only driver who could keep up. Keselowski had a great final pit stop and made the race winning move by passing Johnson with about thirty laps to go. After Keselowski’s final pit stop he said his car “just took off.” Continue reading
