On January 12, 2015, JR Motorsports announced their expansion into the Camping World Truck Series for the 2015 season, with Haas Automation driver Cole Custer behind the wheel of the No. 00 for ten races.

Haas Automation has sponsored Custer for four years.  The company was founded in 1983 by industrialist Gene Haas, and it manufactures a complete line of vertical and horizontal machining centers, turning centers and rotary tables and indexers in the company’s one million square-foot manufacturing facility in Oxnard, California. Erik Jones repeats in Phoenix truck race as second power failure halts action

With lights flickering around Phoenix International Raceway, polesitter Erik Jones won Friday night’s Lucas Oil 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race when the second power failure of the evening halted the race after 126 of the a scheduled 150 laps.

The clear class of the field, Jones led 114 of those 126 laps. Though the lights came back on after the second stoppage, NASCAR called the race because of the possibility that the power would fail again while the trucks were racing at full speed, as had just happened on Lap 124. Continue reading

In the second Late-Model event of the Celebrity Race Night at Irwindale Speedway, on September 27th, Blaine Perkins raced the HPR No. 55 Chevy that he took over on July 5 when driver Cole Custer became one of 12 NASCAR Next–2014 drivers on a fast-track to national series stardom.

Creating a showcase of youthful stars of the sport, the starting lineup for the second Late-Model race of the night put fast-timer Zane Smith outside row four, with leading Late-Model rookie Christian McGhee, 16, and Blaine Perkins, 14, occupying the front row. Series track championship contenders McCray and Partridge were in row two. Continue reading

Custer Cruises At NHMS; Becomes NASCAR’s Youngest Winner

At this time of year, most 16-year-olds worry about finding a date for homecoming or practicing for their driver’s license tests.

Cole Custer isn’t your typical 16-year-old.

He keeps himself busy by competing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series where he became NASCAR’s youngest national series winner at 16 years, seven months and 28 days, taking the checkered flag in the UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday. Continue reading
