Custer becomes youngest winner in NASCAR‘s K&N Pro Series History

Cole Custer didn’t just break records Friday night, he shattered them.

The Ladera Ranch, Calif., driver became the youngest winner in NASCAR K&N Pro Series history with his wire-to-wire win in the Pork Be Inspired 150 at Iowa Speedway. From dirt, to a triangular shaped race track, the Truck Series has had its variety over the past week-and-a-half. Although Eldora was unique and exciting, it’s time to move on and inch closer to crowning this year’s champion. With Pocono on the schedule for only a few seasons, drivers are figuring out the triangle quickly, making for phenomenal racing. Sliding Into History: Austin Dillon Takes Eldora

“This is real racing…”

is how history-maker Austin Dillon described the inaugural MudSummer Classic in victory lane after the race. Dillon put on a show by leading just about the second part of the race. He held off many charges by Kyle Larson, but Larson couldn’t get to the front on the final restarts. Eldora’s first race was a spectacular one and NASCAR’s return to dirt was undoubtedly successful.

The oldest pole-sitter in NASCAR history, Ken Schrader at 58 years old, started the race on the pole and led until lap 16 with Timothy Peters taking the lead. Peters showed that dirt experience was not necessary to do well by leading 23 laps until Larson slid to the top spot. Continue reading

K&N Pro Series with Double Header as East meets West in Iowa

K-NProSeriesLogoIowa Speedway has become synonymous with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series as both East and West have annually convened in the nation’s heartland to compete head-to-head since 2007.

The Casey’s General Stores 150 on Friday, June 7, will be the first of two meetings at the .875-mile track in Newton, Iowa, with the second scheduled for Aug. 2.

The seven previous editions of the East/West combination race have produced a different winner. Chase Elliott picked up the win in his only visit to the track last season. Continue reading
