A year of revival is now fully underway for Matt Kenseth as he picks up another win in Saturday night’s Bojangles’ Southern 500. The win is his third of the season including, Las Vegas and Kansas and this is arguably the best-ever start to a season for Kenseth.

Why is this season different from all others for Kenseth? Matt Kenseth is now at Joe Gibbs Racing and making the most of this new relationship. Both parties want to continue their success as the season progresses. Continue reading

Denny Hamlin will race this weekend. How Much? That is still  unknown, but Hamlin has been medically cleared to get back in the race car for this weekend. This is the first time Denny Hamlin will get in a race car since his wreck at Auto Club Speedway over four weeks ago.

Denny Hamlin tweeted earlier this week that he would be getting back in the race car, only to have NASCAR say they do not have medical clearance from doctors. Well, last night NASCAR confirmed that Denny Hamlin has been medically cleared by doctors to race this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Continue reading

Another élite organization is facing major penalties Wednesday. The Associated Press first reported that Matt Kenseth’s engine from his winning car at Kansas did not pass NASCAR‘s standards at the Research and Development Center.

The AP reported early Wednesday that one connecting rod did not meet minimum weight. Joe Gibbs Racing gets their engines from Toyota Racing Development out of Costa Mesa, California. Joe Gibbs Racing does not make their own engines. The part that failed inspection at the R&D Center may not have given Kenseth any advantage on Sunday when he won in Kansas. But NASCAR will still hold the 20 team responsible for the failed part. Continue reading

Brian Scott may have found the home he’s been looking for to get his NASCAR career jump started. In what is now his fourth full Nationwide Series season, 2013 is the year that Scott needs to show he belongs, and so far he’s doing just that. Paying dividends is an off-season move from Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing

Scott began driving early on for Braun Racing in 2009 and 2010 and then later the power house Joe Gibbs Racing in 2011 and 2012. While Scott did have limited success along the way, it was never consistent and Scott never seemed able to take advantage of the highly successful program that Gibbs has in place for the Nationwide Series. Crashes have marred many events along the way, which have eliminated potential for higher finishes throughout the course of a given season. Continue reading
