ThorSport Racing finishes 1-2 in the Career for Veterans 200 at Michigan International Speedway

For Johnny Sauter this is his first win of the season in the Camping World Truck Series in a tight finish of just 0.433 seconds over his ThorSport Racing teammate, Matt Crafton, finishing second.

Pit strategy was the difference between first and second with the race leader Crafton pitting on lap 97 for fuel allowing Sauter to regain the lead on his way to the checkered flag and victory lane. Sauter led 21 laps en route to his tenth career victory in the Camping World Truck Series. He also takes over the points lead from Ryan Blaney. Continue reading

Fresh Start Likely At Michigan
Not one regular in this weekend’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race has won at Michigan.In fact, the only entry who has taken a checkered flag there is two-time winner and past series champion Travis Kvapil (2004, ‘07). Kvapil has run mostly a part-time schedule in the truck series, starting only four races in the last three years combined. His last series win came in 2007.So, consider it a strong possibility that Saturday after the Careers for Veterans 200, there will be a new victor crowned.With 12 different winners in 14 seasons – Greg Biffle and Kvapil are the only repeat winners – Michigan is anyone’s race to win.

Austin Dillon wins the Pocono Mountains 150 his first series win since Eldora in 2013 and breaks Toyota’s 12-race win streak

Finally Toyota’s 12-race dominance in the Camping World Truck Series has come to an end at Pocono Raceway with Austin Dillon bringing home a victory in his No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

From asphalt to dirt, the Camping World Truck Series transitions to the high-banked clay oval of Eldora Speedway on July 23 for the second consecutive season. The only dirt track on the schedule, Eldora will challenge even the most seasoned of veterans as it remains unique to the truck series among national series schedules.

Eldora is the only race to award the winner a golden shovel that helps to carry on the “ceremonial digging” tradition instituted at the inaugural event, when the race winner scoops dirt from the track as a keepsake. In its six-year history hosting the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Iowa Speedway has seen one repeat winner, Timothy Peters. With only three past winners including Peters, Ryan Blaney and Matt Crafton, expected to run Friday’s race, a new face in Victory Lane would be no surprise.
