Daytona International Speedway will roar back to life this Friday Night as the Nationwide Series cars embark on the high-speed oval for the second time this season. Back in February, disaster struck in their race. A huge wreck coming to the checker put Kyle Larson’s car into the catch fence, tearing it apart. Many fans were injured and it became a race that many hoped to forget. As the series returns to the track this weekend, a safe and action-packed race is what everyone wants to see. But the name of the race has “firecracker” in it, so there should be some fireworks on display throughout the night. Continue reading

For the fourth time in his career, Jimmie Johnson scored victory and a million dollars in the Sprint All-Star Race. He did it in classic Jimmie Johnson fashion by not coming alive until the last segment and then doing an all-out blitz to the finish. The race was rather calm, but the historic run by Johnson makes up for some of the vacant storylines of the race.

The race didn’t get far when the green-flag fell because of rain invading the track and causing a red-flag rain-delay for 41 minutes and 28 seconds. Before the delay, Brad Keselowski broke a transmission, taking himself out of contention for the victory. When the delay ended, Kurt Busch was able to stay up front and win the first segment. Fans waited through rain, wrecks, and a nail-biting green-white-checker finish to witness an incredible victory by the underdog, David Ragan. No one was talking about Ragan until the last lap when he emerged at the front of the field with drafting help from his teammate, David Gilliland. Both the David’s shot to the lead and blocked everyone else to make sure that Front Row Motorsports got to victory lane. They were successful and FRM got to celebrate their first Sprint Cup victory. Many will agree, the race was worth the wait and the ending didn’t disappoint. It may have taken a while, but this Talladega race was truly remarkable. Continue reading

The whole race changed after the eleventh and last caution came out in Saturday night’s Toyota Owners 400, as most of the drivers pitted while a few stayed out. When the green flag fell for the restart, craziness ensued and Kevin Harvick came out of nowhere to take the lead with two laps to go. That pass for the lead left him in victory lane after a race that could resulted in at least ten different winners. The ‘Closer’ did it again by doing what he does best and taking the victory after taking the lead late in the race. Carnage was the name of the game leading up to the last restart, but that wild ending will forever be the legacy of this race. Continue reading
