Roush Fenway Racing Off to a Fast Start

Ryan Reed and Chris Buescher’s performance on NASCAR’s biggest stage was incomparable.  Their 1-2 finish puts the spotlight squarely on the young Roush Fenway Racing drivers as the series heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway.

At 21 years of age, Reed not only has all the attributes of a young superstar, but also the qualities to be an inspiration for young people with health challenges all over the world. Four years ago Reed was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and was told by doctors he would never race again.  Through perseverance and a very stringent diet and lifestyle he was able to work his way back to competition and ultimately win at Daytona International Speedway.   Continue reading

The Favorites

Dale Earnhardt Jr – even with starting last in Thursday nights dual race, Earnhardt Jr. was able to make his way through the pack and beat out Matt Kenseth for the win. Sunday he finally gets the decent starting spot and could be a force.

Matt Kenseth – Kenseth has shown his number 20 is bad fast throughout Speed Weeks. He may have the best car that can lead if he can get to the front although starts 35th Sunday.

Jimmie Johnson – It was scary how Jimmie was able to hold off three very fast Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota’s and lead almost the entire second duel. Having three Hendrick drivers starting one two and three ensures he will have help at the beginning of the race to stay up there. Continue reading

Matt Kenseth did what he couldn’t do all of last year — win a race.

And Martin Truex Jr., runner-up in Saturday night’s 75-lap Sprint Unlimited exhibition race at Daytona International Speedway, did what he could do only once in 2014 — lead a lap.

Coming to the finish line on the last lap, Kenseth blocked Truex’s move off Turn 4 and crossed the finish line in his No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota .219 seconds ahead of Truex, who led four times for 28 laps after leading just one lap in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series all of last season.

The victory was Kenseth’s first in the non-points race, but it was the second straight win for Joe Gibbs Racing. Continue reading

Charging away from a pack of pursuers on the final restart, Matt Kenseth scored his first NASCAR Nationwide Series win since October of last year in Saturday’s Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Chase Elliott, who had clinched the driver’s championship last Saturday in Phoenix, finished 17th after scraping the outside wall late in the race. Brad Keselowski delivered the Nationwide Series owner’s championship to Roger Penske with an eighth-place result in the No. 22 Team Penske Ford. Continue reading
