Brandon Jones Takes the ARCA Pole at Chicagoland Speedway

Coming off the hauler, Brandon Jones didn’t think his car was that good, they were fighting it free most of the day.  By the end of the ARCA Racing Series practice, that all changed when he and his crew chief hit on something that made a big difference for his No. 33 MDM Motorsports team.

“Shane Huffman has been my crew chief for a couple of years now, and we’ve cycled back into things since, I’m at MDM this year, said Jones after winning the pole award. “He kind of knows what I’m looking for’ he knows my feel (for the car) and we hit on something with about ten minutes to go in practice.

“All-in-all qualifying on the pole I think is going to be really good. It’s not a bad place to start from and hopefully, everything in the race will go the way we need it to go.”

Practice and qualifying during the day can mean a difference from racing in the evening when the sun starts setting. But, Jones knows what to expect from the track at Chicagoland Speedway in the ARCA Racing Series’ Scott’s 150.

“Usually, here at night it frees up a little bit,” continued Jones. “And I think we’ve got the car tightened up just enough to be pretty good for tonight. That’s what we’re expecting anyway. We’ll have to see what happens by the first pit stop and make the call after that.”

The ARCA Racing Series’ Scott’s 150 starts at 8 pm ET tonight at Chicagoland Speedway with coverage on FOX Sports 1.

Every move he made in today’s LTi Printing 200 to earn a trip to Victory Lane turned out to be the right one. Continue reading
