The delicious irony of Regan Smith’s victory in Saturday’s Aaron’s 312 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway wasn’t lost on the driver of the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet.

With a push from teammate Kasey Kahne, Smith roared out of the pack during the final 400 yards of a green-white-checkered-flag finish and won a race decided when NASCAR called the seventh and final caution an instant before the four cars battling for the win crossed the finish line. One of the wildest and most unpredictable races of the season is taking center stage on Saturday afternoon for the Nationwide Series. The one time each year when the Nationwide stars roll into Talladega, a show is always put on and by the end of the race, fans jaws have dropped. One of the most exciting things in racing is short track racing under the lights.

On this coming Friday night, the Nationwide Series drivers will be out on the track competing for the win under the lights. Richmond always puts on a great show and this Friday Night should be no different. All of the Nationwide Series regulars are ready to get back on the track after a week off and they all will be hungry for the win, along with Sprint Cup regulars in the race also looking to bring home the victory. West Coast racing returns this weekend as NASCAR’s Nationwide Series heads out to Auto Club Speedway in Southern California. The drivers will take on the daunting two-mile “D” shaped-oval this weekend after racing at Bristol which is just about the complete opposite type of track. Fans will surely see a different race on Saturday, compared to last weekend since the field will likely spread out all-over the track versus having  bumper-to-bumper racing which we saw at Bristol. The transition between one of the smallest tracks on the circuit to one of the biggest will be a tough animal to tame for the drivers but, it will surely make the racing interesting as the fifth different type of track this season for the new Gen 6 cars.
