One of NASCAR’s biggest night of racing will be this Saturday night. It’s All-Star Saturday night and the excitement, drama, and action are expected throughout the evening. The All-Star Race is a very special event and often includes a lot of drama, resulting in great racing. Saturday night kicks off with the Sprint Showdown featuring drivers hoping to get into the main event by finishing first or second in the race. NASCAR announced Wednesday the postseason awards dates for the annual NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, set for Monday, Nov. 18 at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla.

Last Chance for Fan Vote in Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte

downloadOnly three unclaimed spots remain for Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. And 23 drivers will race hard to nab one of them in the Sprint Showdown (7:30 p.m. ET on SPEED), the precursor to the main event scheduled to start at about 9 p.m. ET.

Among that list of 23 are rookies, veterans, winners and former Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup contenders. Three rookies pepper the fields: Danica Patrick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Timmy Hill. Martin Truex Jr. had a career year last year, making the Chase and vying for a championship. He’ll join Jeff Burton and Juan Pablo Montoya as former Chasers who have yet to lock up a spot. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Thursday to get some lessons from the pros on how to lasso his way into the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race next week and compete for up to $2 million in winnings.

Playing off the All-Star Race’s Wild West theme, the Roush Fenway Racing driver got lessons in roping, rode a mechanical bull and tried his hand at barrel racing with instruction from FOX Sports/SPEED TV analyst Jeff Hammond and professional rodeo competitor Taylor Earnhardt. Continue reading

Dramatic Finish Leaves David Ragan in Victory Lane

Fans waited through rain, wrecks, and a nail-biting green-white-checker finish to witness an incredible victory by the underdog, David Ragan. No one was talking about Ragan until the last lap when he emerged at the front of the field with drafting help from his teammate, David Gilliland. Both the David’s shot to the lead and blocked everyone else to make sure that Front Row Motorsports got to victory lane. They were successful and FRM got to celebrate their first Sprint Cup victory. Many will agree, the race was worth the wait and the ending didn’t disappoint. It may have taken a while, but this Talladega race was truly remarkable. Continue reading
