Denny Hamlin’s late surge leads to a Richmond win in the NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 on Sunday afternoon.

The NASCAR Cup Series heads into Richmond, Virginia to begin a stretch of short-track battles. Richmond Raceway is the first of three scheduled short tracks on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule. The racing at Richmond is always a precursor to what lies ahead at Martinsville and Bristol. The races are always close, cars are pushing and shoving, and many drivers are going home in poor moods.

William Byron Holds Off the NASCAR Cup Series Field in Dramatic Atlanta Victory

William Byron holds off the NASCAR Cup Series Field in dramatic Atlanta victory in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 on Sunday afternoon.

After a repave and reconfiguration of Atlanta Motor Speedway, the NASCAR Cup Series returned for their first crack at this new track. Not only did the speedway repave its surface, but it also increased its banking in the corners from 24 degrees to 28 degrees. Atlanta officials were going for more of a superspeedway feel, and they hit it right on the button.

Ryan Blaney holds off contenders for a Daytona victory in the NASCAR Cup Series season finale, the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Sunday afternoon.

Daytona International Speedway was the venue for the 2021 regular-season finale. One final playoff spot was open with several teams looking to seal their fate on the superspeedway. This cut-off race has become more intense and unsettling for teams that are riding the line of playoff berth or elimination. A superspeedway race is an equal opportunity for teams to win a race on luck or lose after being involved in an inevitable wreck.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –  The Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR Cup Series regular-season finale at Daytona International Speedway unfolded as billed with dramatic action all Saturday night that included 45 lead changes, a 14-minute Red Flag period, and a wild final lap of overtime to decide the championship playoff picture.
