A first Las Vegas win for Kurt Busch in the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway advances him to the Round of 8 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

With the opening round of the 2020 Cup Series Playoffs in the books, the show moves out west for a 400-mile race in Las Vegas. The playoff standings are extremely close coming into the race with a few surprising drivers already fighting to move on. Teams look forward to this event as an opportunity to gain points or even win a race before everyone heads to Talladega Superspeedway.

Kurt Busch hits jackpot by winning the NASCAR Cup Series South Point 400 on Sunday at his home track of Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

With a career record of 0-for-21 coming into Sunday night’s South Point 400 at his hometown Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kurt Busch may have felt like a ‘long shot.’ But with fortunate track position late in the race and some sure-bet restarts at the front of the field, Busch can now count himself a Vegas winner.

LAS VEGAS – Kyle Busch looked simultaneously relaxed in his hometown of Las Vegas on Thursday afternoon and ready to get after it. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs begin with Sunday’s South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (7 p.m. ET, NBCSN, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) and as the regular-season champion, Busch starts the 10-race championship push as the top-seed among the 16 Playoff drivers. On-track action begins Friday with opening Cup practice.
