Matt Crafton Takes the Win in Late Restart at Texas Motor Speedway

Matt Crafton insists he had ‘a blast’ racing Daniel Suarez Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway, including a pair of late-race restarts that secured victory in the 19th annual WinStar World Casino & Resort 400.

Crafton continued his recent domination of NASCAR’s intermediate racetracks, hammering out the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory over an aggressive Suarez. The two-time reigning series champion, Crafton recorded his eighth career victory by 0.569-seconds. Continue reading

After a two-year hiatus, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, Feb. 28. Ty Dillon, the 2013 series runner-up is expected to be the only previous winner returning for the Hyundai Construction 200 and is also the latest driver to capture a victory at the track (8/31/12). The Truck Series has not raced at Atlanta in March since 2010 when Kevin Harvick took the checkered flag from the fourth starting spot. Ryan Blaney and his father, NASCAR veteran Dave Blaney, discussed one particular point of emphasis before Saturday’s Pocono Mountains 125 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Pocono Raceway.

“We actually talked about restarts and choosing the right line,” said 19-year-old Ryan, who grabbed the lead from rookie German Quiroga on a restart that began the second attempt at a green-white-checkered-flag finish and held on to win the fourth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race stage at the 2.5-mile triangular track.

“It was pretty funny that we were talking about restarts before the race, and that’s what it came down to.” Continue reading

Carnage, Craziness, and Crafton at Kansas

One of the longest Truck Series races in a while ended with a great battle for the win. Matt Crafton held off Joey Coulter in the last laps for his third career Truck win. Crafton’s truck came alive towards the end of the race as he drove to get to the front and stay there. He did just that and it resulted in victory. Like predicted, the race was pure craziness with a lot of carnage. This was the first race for the trucks on Kansas’ new surface and the lack of experience on the surface was showing throughout the race today. Continue reading
