Although more women are racing, there are still fewer women than men in the sport today.  Toni McCray is one of the few making her mark among the men in the Lucas Oil Late Model series. Blaine Perkins Surprises the Celebrity Race Night Crowd at Irwindale

In the second Late-Model event of the Celebrity Race Night at Irwindale Speedway, on September 27th, Blaine Perkins raced the HPR No. 55 Chevy that he took over on July 5 when driver Cole Custer became one of 12 NASCAR Next–2014 drivers on a fast-track to national series stardom.

Creating a showcase of youthful stars of the sport, the starting lineup for the second Late-Model race of the night put fast-timer Zane Smith outside row four, with leading Late-Model rookie Christian McGhee, 16, and Blaine Perkins, 14, occupying the front row. Guests for this episode include Kaz Grala, K&N East driver with Turner Scott Motorsports coming off his best finish of the season of fifth at Langley Speedway. This weekend Grala competes at his home track, New Hampshire Motor Speedway with high hopes and expectations.

Also, Whelen All-American driver Toni McCray joins the conversation after winning two events at Irwindale Speedway. McCray is now 18 points away from leading the point standings and intends to compete hard in the next Twins features at Irwindale on July 19th.

In the first half-hour, Patrick Staropoli joins us to talk about ‘Driven’ a new documentary about his racing career, Harvard degree and Medical studies.  He’ll also talk about his new role at Michael Waltrip Racing as a Marketing Intern.
