NASCAR K&N Pro Series West teams head to Tucson Speedway this weekend for the NAPA Auto Parts Wildcat 150 after a long break since their last outing a month ago. This is their third event of the 2016 season and already there are some interesting storylines for fans to follow.
Jefferson Pitts Racing have two drivers looking for a victory this weekend with Noah Gragson as the defending winner and Gracin Raz looking for redemption after finishing second last year.
Now, sixth in the K&N West point standings, a repeat win for Gragson would mean, the series’ first back-to-back victories at the 0.375-mile Arizona oval and his first win of the 2016 season. Raz is now ninth in the series’ point standings and a win for him would mean redemption after battling hard for the victory and finishing as runner-up in 2015.
Raz finished fourth in the series’ 2015 championship standings, earning his first victory at All-American Speedway and his first top-five at Irwindale with a fourth-place finish. With only two events in the 2016 season, Raz has a top-ten finish of seventh at Kern County Raceway.
Looking to challenge both Jefferson Pitts Racing drivers is Bill McAnally Racing driver, Todd Gilliland as he looks to continue his winning streak this weekend. Third-generation racer, Gilliland enters the weekend leading the K&N West point standings after winning the first two races of the season at Irwindale and Kern. He also won the K&N West season finale last year at Phoenix and now owns a three-race winning streak heading into this weekend. The race is a debut for Gilliland at Tucson Speedway.
A win for Gilliland will not come easy with Gragson and Raz both having experience at Tucson.
Fans can follow the K&N West drivers in the NAPA Auto Parts Wildcat 150 at Tucson Speedway on Saturday, May 7th at 8:30 pm Pacific Time on NASCAR Hometracks Race Central powered by Speed 51. NBC Sports Network will broadcast the tape-delayed race on Thursday, May 12th at 6 pm ET.
