Kenseth holds off Larson for Nationwide win at Homestead, as Penske wins owner’s title

Charging away from a pack of pursuers on the final restart, Matt Kenseth scored his first NASCAR Nationwide Series win since October of last year in Saturday’s Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Chase Elliott, who had clinched the driver’s championship last Saturday in Phoenix, finished 17th after scraping the outside wall late in the race. Brad Keselowski delivered the Nationwide Series owner’s championship to Roger Penske with an eighth-place result in the No. 22 Team Penske Ford. Continue reading

Kyle Busch Cruises to Carbon-Copy Nationwide Win at Dover

It was a case of Dover déjà vu.

Kyle Busch took the lead from Joey Logano on pit road under caution near the midpoint of a NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Dover International Speedway and led every lap from that point forward.

In winning Saturday’s Dover 200 at the Monster Mille, Busch duplicated an accomplishment remarkably similar to his victory at Dover in May. Continue reading

15 Different Winners And Counting; Record Is 18   

The NASCAR Nationwide Series has reached its highest level of competitive balance in more than a decade. Ryan Blaney, 20, became the 15th different series winner this past weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, the most through 23 races since 2001. The overall series record for most different winners in a full season is 18, set in 1988.

This season has ten races remaining on the series schedule and the record of 18 could very well be matched. Already, this season has seen five first-timers  with Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Brendan Gaughan, Ty Dillon and Chris Buescher. Other than the inaugural Nationwide Series season the record for first-time winners is six.

Youthful Success Keeps Flowing In The NASCAR Nationwide Series      

Look no further than the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the next wave of young talent. At Mid-Ohio on Saturday, Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender Chris Buescher became the third rookie this season to win, joining Chase Elliott and Ty Dillon. This is the first time since 2005 that there have been multiple rookie winners.
