It was a race Kyle Busch won with a dramatic run around the outside lane at Kentucky Speedway.

It was a race Erik Jones lost when he hit the wrong switch on his dashboard, killed the engine and slowed under caution late in the race.

But, interestingly, it was a race where Jones showed Busch, the pole winner, the key to victory, demonstrating to his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate that the outside line was viable when racing side-by-side with an opponent. Continue reading

Brand New Kentucky Speedway Awaits the NASCAR XFINITY Series

Crew chiefs can toss out their old notes because Kentucky Speedway underwent a full repave during the off-season and its new surface debuts this weekend when all three of NASCAR’s national series head to The Bluegrass State.

Almirola Edges Allgaier for NASCAR XFINITY Series Win at Daytona

Aric Almirola won his second NASCAR XFINITY Series race by much less than a nose.

But to the driver of the No. 98 Fred Biagi-owned Ford, that was a vast improvement over his first victory in the series—when he wasn’t even in the car when the race ended.

In Friday night’s Subway Firecracker 400 at Daytona International Speedway, Almirola was inches ahead of Justin Allgaier off the last corner in overtime when NASCAR called the eighth caution of the race and froze the field because of a wild wreck on the backstretch involving polesitter David Ragan.

Joe Gibbs Racing announced Thursday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway that DEWALT Tools will step up their commitment within the organization, with a primary focus on Matt Kenseth in 2016 and 2017.

Promoting their new DEWALT FLEXVOLT product, the company will sponsor Kenseth in Saturday’s Coke Zero 400 and for four of the 10 Chase races at Chicagoland Speedway, Dover International Speedway, Kansas Speedway and the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway respectively. Continue reading

Burnin’ Hot: Byron Blazes to Third Victory

William Byron has raced for less than four years, yet is dominating the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Byron, 19, blazed to his series-leading third win of the season at Iowa and has visited Victory Lane in the series’ last two races. The 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East frontrunner made only one start in the Camping World Truck Series before this season.

Now, he looks to tie a record. If Byron or teammates Christopher Bell or Erik Jones can earn a victory, Kyle Busch Motorsports would tie Roush Fenway Racing for the most owner wins in Camping World Truck Series history with 50. Continue reading
