Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) put a young Joey Logano in the Sprint Cup Series full-time in 2009.  The 18-year-old took over the vacated seat in the No. 20 car from Tony Stewart.

The Cup rookie never saw Pocono Raceway until June.  JGR decided to enter Logano in the ARCA race on Saturday for more track time. Logano took to the Tricky Triangle early by setting the fastest time in practice. With qualifying rained out, the No. 25 Home Depot Toyota had to start in fourth-place. Continue reading

Elliott Sadler Scores an Aaron’s 312 Win at Talladega

Less than a week after turning 39 years old, Elliott Sadler gave himself a long-awaited birthday present by winning at Talladega Superspeedway for the first time in his career.

Sadler out-raced Chris Buescher over the last three laps and led a tight pack of 16 cars across the finish line to win the Aaron’s 312 NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday. It was Sadler’s first victory at Talladega Superspeedway in 29 attempts (six in the Nationwide Series and 23 Sprint Cup Series races), even though he has had fast enough cars to start on the pole at the track five times. In Saturday’s Nationwide Series TreatMyClot.com 300 at Auto Club Speedway, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth and Elliott Sadler are aiming to reach double digits in the win column for their team. If one of the three succeed, it becomes Joe Gibbs Racing’s tenth consecutive victory at ACS.

Cody Coughlin will drive No. 55 JEGS Toyota for Venturini Motorsports in ARCA Series

Joe Gibbs Racing has signed Cody Coughlin to their driver development program.

On the drag racing circuit, the Coughlin family is well-known for collecting a number of NHRA titles and championships. Making his own mark in racing, Cody Coughlin is the first in the family to race ovals and now he’s ready for the next step in an already impressive career. Coughlin earned the JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour Championship in 2013 and 2011 along with taking the Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year honors.  Continue reading
