Hamlin Hammers the Throttle on Final Lap to Win Sprint Unlimited

The key to winning Saturday night’s Sprint Unlimited was to survive. Following an eight car wreck in the second segment, the field now was half of how many started the race. The remaining half put on a show that came down to the last few laps. It was Denny Hamlin outlasting the field when he sprinted ahead on the last lap. Hamlin was able to hold his position as his closest challengers, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, and Kyle Busch weren’t able to catch up with the dominant Joe Gibbs Racing No. 11 car. Continue reading

Joe Gibbs Racing is the one team that seems to keep getting better and better. Whether it’s climbing farther up the leader board or adding speed to their already fast cars, this team never seems to stop improving. All of which is due to the dedication of this team. Keselowski Takes Checkers in Texas Nationwide Race

Once again during Saturday afternoon’s Nationwide Series race at Texas, it was the No.22 car in victory lane. One of the most dominating seasons continues for the Penske Racing entry. This victory is the No.22 car’s twelfth on the year and Keselowski’s sixth. The owner’s championship is very much within reach for this team and this race solidified that point.

A Penske parade was up front early when Sam Hornish Jr. took the lead from Alex Bowman on lap five and then Keselowski passed Hornish Jr. one lap later. After the Penske stint up front, Joe Gibbs Racing held the top positions for mostly the mid-part of the race. Continue reading

Elliott Sadler to Drive No. 55 for MWR in Final 2013 Races

Michael Waltrip Racing announced today that Elliott Sadler will drive the No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine in the 2013 season’s final four Sprint Cup races.

Sadler replaces Brian Vickers, who is unavailable for the rest of the season due to anti-coagulation medications he is taking to treat a small blood clot in his right leg. Doctors indicate Vickers will be on the medication at least two months.

Sadler drives a Joe Gibbs Racing car full-time in the Nationwide Series and begins racing the No. 55 at Martinsville Speedway on October 27th. He will then finish the season with Scott Miller as his crew chief at Texas, Phoenix  and Homestead. Continue reading
