Kyle Busch Hopes to Win the Race—and the Numbers Game—at Indianapolis

Kyle Busch’s appearance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend involves more numbers than anyone could be expected to remember.

First and foremost, Busch has a chance to win a third straight Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at the 2.5-mile track. No other driver has ever accomplished that feat on the oval—either in Cup or IndyCar Series racing. Continue reading

Kyle Busch’s celebratory burnout produced a cloud of smoke over the front stretch at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but Ryan Preece’s first run in top-of-the-line equipment made an even bigger impression in Saturday’s Overton’s 200 NASCAR XFINITY Series race.

After a major snafu on pit road took a potential win away from Brad Keselowski, who had arguably the fastest car at the Magic Mile, Busch cruised to a 10.425-second victory, collecting his third win in six starts this season, his sixth at NHMS and the 89th of his career, extending his series record. Five Icons Selected as 2018 NASCAR Hall of Fame Class

Byron, Evernham, Hornaday, Squier, Yates Comprise Hall’s Ninth Class

NASCAR announced today the inductees who will comprise the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2018. The five-person group – the ninth since the inception of the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2010 – consists of Red Byron, Ray Evernham, Ron Hornaday Jr., Ken Squier and Robert Yates. In addition, NASCAR announced that Jim France earned the Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame Voting Panel met today in a closed session at the Charlotte Convention Center to debate and vote upon the 20 nominees for the induction class of 2018 and the five nominees for the Landmark Award. Continue reading
