Earnhardt Wins at Phoenix: Harvick, Busch, Truex Join Gordon in Champion 4

A serendipitous sequence of pit stops and a drizzle that turned into a downpour made a winner of Dale Earnhardt Jr. in Sunday night’s Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 at Phoenix International Raceway, with a delayed start moving the race from daytime to under the lights by rain in the afternoon.

But again, halting the race due to rain 93 laps short of its scheduled distance of 312 laps was hardly the satisfying conclusion Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch or Joey Logano had hoped for.

Eliminating those four drivers from the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup was disappointing, while defending champion Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. joined Jeff Gordon in next Sunday’s Championship Round at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Continue reading

Kyle Busch Outduels Teammate Matt Kenseth for 75th XFINITY Win

Overcoming obstacles in the NASCAR XFINITY Series is commonplace for Kyle Busch.

In Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway, Busch brushed aside a pit road speeding penalty, a hole in the nose of his No. 54 Toyota, a pit stop that dropped him to seventh for the next to the last restart, an unwelcome green-white-checkered-flag restart and a teammate who had the fastest car for much of the afternoon.

The result was Busch’s 75th XFINITY Series victory, extending his own record. Busch won for third time at Kansas and for the fifth time in 20 starts this season. Continue reading

Dash 4 Cash Round 3: Smith’s Million Dollar Chance

The third round of the NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash 4 Cash program rolls into Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 300 on August 21. Regan Smith, Daniel Suarez, Elliott Sadler and Ryan Blaney will compete for a $100,000 cash bonus this weekend. Smith, the winner of the first two rounds of the 2015 Dash 4 Cash program, can still win an extra $600,000 bonus at the end of the season. Smith will need to win this third round at Bristol for $100,000 and then win the Darlington race outright to claim another $100,000, which will then award him an extra $600,000 – bringing his total cash bonus winnings to $1 million dollars. Joey Logano Claims Thrilling NASCAR XFINITY Series Race At Talladega

Fresh from an ‘intense’ final eight laps, Joey Logano parked his No. 22 Ford, caught his breath and proclaimed that it was…

“…cool to get this thing in Victory Lane.”

Then, this is a season of ‘cool’ for Logano, who’ll turn 25 later this month. His triumph in Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series Winn-Dixie 300 at Talladega Superspeedway was his third in five series starts, to go along with two runner-up finishes. Continue reading
