2015 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Expands To Showcase Top Talent 

Million-Dollar Payday Awaits Winner of Annual Classic at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Showcasing the sport’s top talent, NASCAR announced changes for the 2015 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race that will elevate the excitement of this annual classic. Race coverage is set for 7 p.m. ET, Saturday, May 16 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (FOX Sports 1, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

The field will include race winners from the 2014 and 2015 seasons, as well as all former NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race winners and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions who are full-time competitors – all of whom will compete for the $1 million prize awarded to the winner. Prior to this change, former NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race winners and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions were eligible only if they accomplished the feat within the previous ten seasons. NASCAR Xfinity Series Crew Chief Greg Erwin Tops the Owner Point Standings for Team Penske

With five races in the books the teams that are the ones to beat have risen to the top, but they can’t get there without the leadership of a good crew chief. Take a look at the crew chief that has his team leading the Xfinity Series owner point standings:

Greg Erwin replaced Jeremy Bullins this season at the top of the pit box for Team Penske’s No. 22 Ford with drivers Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney. Erwin has worn many hats in the NASCAR world from engineer to competition director, but this season his talents are toward bringing Roger Penske his third consecutive owner title in the Xfinity Series. So far this season the No. 22 team is on the right track, as they lead the owner standings by eight points over JR Motorsport’s No. 88 team. With Saturday’s Kroger 250 we again, were able to witness excellence in the form of 17-year-old Cole Custer. Making history in 2014, Cole Custer became the youngest pole sitter ever at Gateway Motorsports park, before becoming the youngest winner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. JR Motorsports announced they would field a Camping World Truck Series entry for ten races, for the first time in 2015 with driver, Cole Custer.

Custer’s, career began very young as he started running laps behind former Xfinity series driver Randy Lajoie’s race shop in Kannapolis, NC. From then on, Custer went on to grab multiple national titles racing quarter midgets around the country. Moving on to stock cars, he became the youngest winner in K&N Pro Series history at age 15. Denny Hamlin holds of Brad Keselowski for Martinsville Sprint Cup win

With Brad Keselowski beating a tattoo into his rear bumper, and with his No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota sliding sideways as it approached the checkered flag, Denny Hamlin held on to his car and held off Keselowski to win Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

In winning his first race of the season, his fifth at the .526-mile short track and the 25th of his career, Hamlin took the lead for good on lap 473 of 500, passing teammate Matt Kenseth for the top spot. Two laps later, Keselowski surged past Kenseth and tracked down Hamlin, setting up a breathtaking battle in the closing laps. Continue reading →
