Byron Holds Off Nemechek, Hemric for Record Camping World Truck Series Win

William Byron didn’t have the fastest truck at the end of Thursday night’s Buckle Up In Your Truck 225 at Kentucky Speedway.

But Byron had the most important ingredient in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the newly repaved and reconfigured 1.5-mile track. Byron held the top spot for all 42 laps after the last restart of the event on lap 108 of 150.

It was no cakewalk. Byron had to stave off assaults from both runner-up John Hunter Nemechek and third-place finisher Daniel Hemric, who dogged the race winner – and each other – for the entire closing green-flag run. Continue reading →

Brand New Kentucky Speedway Awaits the NASCAR XFINITY Series

Crew chiefs can toss out their old notes because Kentucky Speedway underwent a full repave during the off-season and its new surface debuts this weekend when all three of NASCAR’s national series head to The Bluegrass State.

In addition to the repave, turns one and two had their banking increased from 14 to 17 degrees. The racing groove narrowed in the process. Turns three and four stay at 14 degrees. Continue reading →

Kyle Busch Back on Track, Headed to Kentucky

For the first time in a long time, Kyle Busch looked mortal.

Riding a streak of 14 top-five finishes in 17 races dating back to last year – a stretch that included four wins – the defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion delved into a four-race tailspin in which he placed no better than 30th beginning at Dover (30th) and capped off with a 40th at Michigan.

Despite the setback, Busch seems back to his old ways following performances of seventh and second at Sonoma and Daytona, respectively. Continue reading →

No current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver has had as much success as Matt Crafton at intermediate tracks. Dating back to the 2014, the No. 88 ThorSport Racing driver has logged a top-ten finish in 19 of the last 21 races at ovals measuring 1.5 or 1.54 miles.
