Two Nationwide Series Teams Penalized after Post-Race Incidents at Richmond

The sanctioning body is levying penalties to two NASCAR Nationwide Series teams as a result of their involvement in separate post-race incidents following last Friday’s race at Richmond International Raceway.

Thomas Costello and Michael Scearce, both crew members for the No. 2 team, have each been fined $15,000 and suspended from NASCAR through the next four NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship events. They have also been placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31. Both Costello and Scearce were found to be in violation of Section 12-1 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing. Brian Scott Jump Starts 2013 Season with Richard Childress Racing

Brian Scott may have found the home he’s been looking for to get his NASCAR career jump started. In what is now his fourth full Nationwide Series season, 2013 is the year that Scott needs to show he belongs, and so far he’s doing just that. Paying dividends is an off-season move from Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing

Scott began driving early on for Braun Racing in 2009 and 2010 and then later the power house Joe Gibbs Racing in 2011 and 2012. While Scott did have limited success along the way, it was never consistent and Scott never seemed able to take advantage of the highly successful program that Gibbs has in place for the Nationwide Series. Crashes have marred many events along the way, which have eliminated potential for higher finishes throughout the course of a given season. Continue reading

Round Two of Sprint Cup Testing at Charlotte Motor Speedway – Entry List

Teams will have a second crack at Charlotte Motor Speedway with the Generation six car before the new season starts. Sprint Cup teams will test at Charlotte Thursday and Friday. Many more teams will be at Charlotte those two days, than the first test in mid December of 2012. There are 33 cars on the entry list for the test session, where drivers and crews should find out much more about the Generation six car and what they can do to improve with more drivers’ input.
