There are some days when a driver dominates and then there are some when a driver annihilates the field. Kevin Harvick had a stellar day in the desert on Sunday. Once he got out front early in the event, he didn’t look back for a second. He was able to control the race and at the end of the day, that put him in victory lane for the third time in the last four Phoenix races. His sponsor Jimmy John’s has the catch phrase “freaky-fast” which describes their service, but in this race it was describing the man behind the wheel. Continue reading

Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 Preview

2014_Daytona500_REVAustin Dillon grabbing the Daytona 500 Pole victory with a Richter-scale rating may only be the beginning of news-making storylines in 2014.

On Sunday, Austin Dillon created a tidal wave of news, putting the iconic No. 3 car on the Pole. The No. 3 car last raced in the Sprint Cup Series in 2001, and hadn’t been on track in the series since Dale Earnhardt’s fatal wreck on the last lap of that year’s Daytona 500. In winning the pole, Dillon became the fourth driver to win the pole while driving the No. 3 car, joining Buddy Baker (1969), Ricky Rudd (1983) and Dale Earnhardt (1996). Continue reading

Summer time – it’s the time in the season when everybody officially makes plans for the 2014 season. And Friday, Kevin Harvick made it official that he will be joining Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) next season. Budweiser, Harvick’s current sponsor, also announced, they will follow Harvick and continue to sponsor him at SHR.
