Short-Track Standouts Go for First Win of 2016

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Larson will race a fourth GMS Racing truck in Saturday’s Alpha Energy Resources 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway, a spokesperson for GMS Racing confirmed to CATCHFENCE.com.
Driving the No. 24 Chevrolet Silverado, Larson will join teammates Spencer Gallagher, Johnny Sauter and newcomer Kaz Grala to make up the four-truck lineup for GMS Racing. Martinsville will mark the first time that the Statesville, North Carolina-based organization has run four trucks in any event. Thrilling Competition Continues at Fontana with
Track-Record 51 Passes for the Lead
The high quality of racing produced in the first four races of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season continued at Auto Club Speedway on Sunday, where drivers tallied a total of 51 green flag passes for the lead, a high at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana since loop date began in 2005.
That marks the second time in the first five races this season for setting a new track record of green flag passes for the lead, as Atlanta had 44 green flag passes for the lead. Continue reading →

With Brad Keselowski beating a tattoo into his rear bumper, and with his No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota sliding sideways as it approached the checkered flag, Denny Hamlin held on to his car and held off Keselowski to win Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
In winning his first race of the season, his fifth at the .526-mile short track and the 25th of his career, Hamlin took the lead for good on lap 473 of 500, passing teammate Matt Kenseth for the top spot.
